Hello loves! Sorry on the short notice but I had a lot to sort out. Tonight I'll be setting up for movies in the fore lounge on Level 2. We'll be watching a Tim Burton mini marathon. I'll be playing Nightmare Before Christmas, Frankenweenie, and Corpse Bride. I'll be supplying drinks and munchies. We'll start around nine. I would love it if someone helped me clean up after.

If you want over for chicken time beforehand, please come tap on my door. I'm sure they'd like to see you.

Your game catalog's in. I also asked for a pile of gaming magazines. Pop by when you can. How are you doing?

Call it whistling in the dark. But she promised Mariska she would do a showing and she aims to keep it, even if there are some bad things going on. Perhaps people will take the opportunity to relax a little.
She sets up the Blu-Ray and sets out a couple of large bowls of popcorn, a snack plate of steak tartare and some glasses of lemonade. Anything else she plans to pop back into the pub for--literally.

I wish I could, but there's a problem with that. Mistakes--and all those dumb ideas that a person comes up with and then dismisses so that they don't make them--are how people learn. If I erased all those moments from your minds, you'd be left...very naive. Like children almost. You'd be too trusting, you wouldn't know common sense things like not to put your hand on a hot stove...you would end up miserable.
I can understand wanting to, though. I have made terrible mistakes before. I'd love to use the Brain Bleach on myself...but I have to remember. Otherwise it might happen again.

Date: 2012-10-03 11:37 pm (UTC)We were captured by the government, you see, used as experimental subjects. We escaped and fought back. A lot of people were killed in the process.
I can't take that back. I can't un-kill people. And I don't ever want to be in that situation again.
You want to know why I'm so kindhearted, loves? It's because I have seen what happens when I'm not.

Not the same.
[Charlie insists.]

Date: 2012-10-05 04:05 am (UTC)If you're fighting someone and they're trying to kill you and you defend yourself, that's one thing. But when other people, innocent people, get caught in it, when things go out of control and suddenly people are dead who you never meant to even hurt....it's the worst feeling to live with after.
But I have to live with it, because I have to remember to never ever let it happen again.

Hey, you didn't go it on your own.
[Charlie points out.]

Everything sounds like a good idea when somebody else says it.
[Charlie insists.]

Date: 2012-10-09 11:00 pm (UTC)The way to avoid that is to get very very picky about who you listen to. You have to treat each other as your best damn friends ever, and watch each other's back when you're tempted to take someone else's ideas or opinions as what you should believe. You're worth the extra care, and that way you can go build memories you won't regret.

No, 'sorry' has not occurred to them. No one has ever told them to say it.]

Date: 2012-10-13 11:15 pm (UTC)Say that someone wrongs you. Say for example that someone does to you what you did to Prefect. Think about and discuss it--what would make you feel better and not be so angry at the person who did that? Would there be something they could say or do that would help?

Fruit basket?
[Says Charlie.]

Date: 2012-10-16 11:50 pm (UTC)Yeah, sorry's not good enough.
[Scrad muses.]

Date: 2012-10-17 01:45 am (UTC)Like, say I quit one of your video games and accidentally erased one of your saves. It's a little thing by comparison, but you still do the same basic things.
You acknowledge you did wrong, you admit you feel bad about it, you promise you won't do it again, and you ask if there's something you can do to make up for it. Since not everyone likes fruit baskets. It's awkward and difficult, especially at first, but...well, usually it works pretty well. Would that work for you if I did you wrong?

Sorry. The truth is that when I read your file I get more angry at other people in your life than I do with you. I know, I'm a bit of a mum.
