*ksht*

Well, it looks like the Admiral has gone poo all over my tailgate party idea, unless we really can make the CES into a parking lot with a stadium viewer. Does anyone have any other good group party ideas? I suggest we do it before whatever it is creeps into the CES as well.

shhhhhhhhhhhhhehehehehehhhehhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

[meant to be private to Mozenrath, but...you guessed it...]
Whatever this thing is, at least part of its intent is obvious. It plans to *kssssshhhhhshhhh* by making us as frightened as possible. To that end, controlling our emotional reactions to this thing is just as important as looking for defenses against it.

[heavy, rasping breathing sounds]

Gardens. After dinner. We'll train regularly until controlling the fear reaction becomes easy.itwon'twork

[She's pouting, too. But the Doctor is in a bit of a hurry, and he leads her back to another room, one that smells faintly of roses and he shuts the door behind him.

If Arkady were so inclined, she could lift her legs up and float without use of any abilities. It's the Zero room. The sensory deprivation room. And it's the two of them, cut off from the fear of the rest of the ship.]

It's not made it's way this deep, yet. The old girl can't sense what's causing the feelings, but she's aware of how the Barge's populous as a collective is beginning to feel. She'll cut off this room before she allows it to become corrupted.

[She lets out a soft sigh of relief.] This certainly beats out a tinfoil helmet.

[She gives a tentative hop, then sits in midair. Without all the mindstatic it is much easier to focus, and her expression grows studious and worried. Elbow on knee, fist on chin.] It's true, then. It's spreading as well as getting worse. First the Deck and common areas, then the communications net and the private areas. The CES isn't yet corrupted and I don't think the Garden will be...there's a light around it. But I might be wrong.

If this goes on, it will overload people with fear, make them feel isolated and invaded, and they will turn on each other unless successfully encouraged to turn to each other. And I wonder if that isn't all deliberate. Psychological warfare.

That's what I'm afraid of...

[Aware of the use of the word, he hops into the air to sit on nothing as well, his fingers steepled and his elbows on his knees.]

I've encountered things such as this before. The Fearmonger, the songs of Nocturne, the faith of Fenric... Even the Gallifreyan gods were created by the power of combined belief, telepathic unity that even those of lesser ability can create.

What if something is slowly giving itself form?

I wish I could consult the others.

But yes, that makes sense. It feeds on fear and slowly grows stronger. And it...

Have you tried communicating with the Admiral lately? I am getting a strange feeling about that too.

I wish we had a belief strong enough to counter it. There is a diversity of beliefs in a higher power, spiritual evolution or the collective will, but some people have nothing to light the darkness for them. Those are the ones I fear for the most.

Those that don't believe in those things might still believe in a single other person. [Love, he believed, was an indomitable power.]

...I've not, actually. [He's not thought about it. Dallas hasn't been troublesome and the TARDIS gives him most of his odds and ends that he needs.] Have you?

That is true. I know that if that was me I'd be stuck to that person right now like chewing gum.

[She hesitates.]

Something about it feels wrong. I might just be very nervous but...if they can affect communication between us, what happens if a communication between us and the Admiral becomes...garbled?

[His eyes widen as he hadn't considered that at all.]

...You've a point. I hadn't thought it might be interrupted, but the ship's been overrun before.

Doctor...we have to consider the possibility that the Admiral is as much a captive of these circumstances as we. Even gods can only control some things, and though he may seem to have command of the Barge, what happens if he's overwhelmed? Incapacitated or sick? Maybe he can't help where we're going right now.

I wish I could see where we're going. Just a bit into the future so I know how long this lasts. If there is a limit to it it will, like the floods, make it easier to endure.
